Opachinski Athletics Complex -
PRESS RELEASE
The Kingston Youth Sports Organization will be hosting its inaugural “KYSO Cold Turkey Tourney”, a one-pitch coed softball tournament to be held at the Opachinski Athletics Complex on Pottle Street, Sunday, November 29, 2009.
According to KYSO Fundraising Cochair Paul Bettle, “Our objective with this idea is to create a KYSO tradition that will continue for years to come. Selectman Mark Beaton, General Manager of the Charlie Horse, a great KYSO supporter, used to run a wintertime softball tournament, and that was the real impetus for this event. We loved the idea of closing the fields for the season with a big bang; namely, hosting a fun activity involving athletics, fundraising, and a party. It is the ideal way to close 2009 for all the hard-working adults who have spent countless hours at the fields this year.”
Mark Beaton has offered to donate some food for the cook-out that will be held during the day of the event, and the Hilltop Athletics Association has been kind enough to offer their outdoor pavilion for the cook-out.
The tournament will be open to adults over 21 years of age. KYSO is presently seeking the involvement of teams from Kingston neighborhoods, and from local businesses and organizations. If you are interested in participating, please contact Jack Riordan at 781-582-1800 or visit our website, http://www.kingstonyouthsports.org/ for registration information.
